Wrist wraps support the wrist joint. They wrap around the joint itself and limit excessive extension and flexion under load. They help with handstands, planche, heavy dips, bench press and overhead pressing - movements where the joint needs structural support.
Wrist straps improve grip. They loop around the bar or implement and take some grip load off your hands. They help with deadlifts, heavy rows, pull variations and barbell work where your grip fatigues before your target muscles. They do nothing for the wrist joint itself.

Do You Need One, or Both?
Most calisthenics athletes - especially those working on skill training, handstands and weighted bodyweight work - benefit from wrist wraps, not straps. Your training doesn't typically involve barbell pulling movements where grip is the limiting factor; it involves wrist-loaded positions where joint support is what you need.
If you also do significant barbell pulling (deadlifts, heavy rows) in your programme, you might benefit from both. But if you're choosing one: for calisthenics, the answer is wraps.
